Monday, January 9th, 2012I had popcorn ceilings in my kitchen and great room and wanted to remove them. I should have checked them for asbestos but I did not know they were in those ceilings. I am a little concerned that I was exposed to asbestos. I do not have a sample to send in now though so I am left wondering if I was exposed or not. I did read that if you wet the area down before you scraped it you would keep the asbestos fibers from getting airborne. Luckily, I did that so that puts my mind at ease a little bit. I had an old paper mask on for the dust also. The house is from the 1920s but I am sure the popcorn was added later. I guess there is no sense worrying about it now because there is nothing I can do if I was exposed to asbestos.
